Description

Here is the second part to my yarn tail tutorial. :3
First part: slendyismypal.deviantart.com/a…
---
What you'll need:
1.) Tape (Optional)
2.) Hair straightener (Optional)
3.) Base of the tail
4.) Yarn of your choice
5.) Safety pins or a dog leash hook
6.) Wire brush or comb
---
Messy/Curly tails:
1.) Gently brush out the tip of the tail base
2.) Wrap the yarn of your choice around the palm of your hand about 20-30 times and cut so that all the pieces are individual. (Cut between your middle and ring finger right in the middle of your palm)
3.) Wrap 5 strands of the yarn around your index and middle fingers to make a loop.
4.) Gently pull strands through the loop tightly so there is a knot right in the middle of the strands of yarn.
5.) Pull two strands of yarn up making it look like an 'x'
6.) Brush the other strands
7.) Put the brushed strands on the base of the tail and tie behind the base. It would be a good idea to tie it twice. Also, I would stagger where I tie the locks so it doesn't look weird.
8.) Repeat steps 2-7 until you reach the knot at the top of the base
If you have questions or need help, feel free to ask.
---
More straight tails:
1.) Gently brush out the tip of the tail base
2.) Straighten the tip with the straightener
3.) Wrap five strands of the yarn of your choice around the palm of your hand about 20-30 times and cut so that all the pieces are individual. (Cut between your middle and ring finger right in the middle of your palm)
4.) Wrap 5 strands of the yarn around your index and middle fingers to make a loop.
5.) Gently pull the strands through the loop tightly so there is a knot right in the middle of the strands of yarn.
6.) Pull two strands of yarn up making it look like an 'x'
7.) Brush all of the other strands
8.) Straighten the brushed strands of yarn to make them straighter and less messy.
9.) Put the brushed strands on the base of the tail and tie behind the base. It would be a good idea to tie it twice. Also, I would stagger where I tie the locks so it doesn't look weird.
10.) Repeat steps 3-9 until you reach the knot at the top of the base
If you have questions or need help, feel free to ask.

To keep the tail on:
You could use a safety pin and pin it to your pants, or you could find a hook off of a dog leash and hook the tail onto your belt loop.
---
Tip: Be creative! You could use more than one color to just make it look different, or even more realistic. (:
If you have used this tutorial, please, let me see it! I would love to see what you have done!

When I try brushing out the strands with a slicker brush, there's close to nothing left of the yarn.  It all separates out into the brush.  Is there something I'm missing?  Is there a preferred yarn type to use?
